The interesting lighting effects in the Town Square, Marienplatz, in Freising, Bavaria in Germany, does not detract from the dark blue of the sky backdropping the historic buildings around the Marienplatz. The bell tower of St George's Church, built in 1689 by Antonio Riva, stands behind the Rathaus - Town Hall, which has an elegant facade.
Saint Mary's column was donated by the Prince-bishop von Wittelsbach in 1674 to be placed in the Marienplatz. The darkening night sky at dusk seems to add an air of serenity to the scene as viewed from along the Hauptstrasse in Freising, Germany.
