Pictures and photos of British Columbia showing nature, wildlife and travel location from Canada's most western Province.

British Colombia is pure outdoor fun. Bordered by the Rockies to the East and the Pacific Ocean to the West, BC is paradise for any skier, sailor, climber, or wine drinker. Here, the trees grow big and the salmon grow bigger. The wildlife is not hard to find. Bears, whales, and bald eagles are common sights in Canada's westernmost province. The Okanagan Valley boasts vineyards that have been producing Canadian wine for more than a hundred years. ... ...continue under photos...

... In 2010 Whistler became famous for the Olympic Winter games and to be the perfect place for family vacations.

You can't drive to BC's capital city from the rest of Canada, you'll have to fly, or maybe take a ferry. The city of Victoria is on Vancouver Island, the largest of many islands strung along the West coast of the province. North of Victoria, the town of Tofino is popular with surfers and sea-kayakers in the summer and storm watchers in the winter. Along the Pacific coast, the climate is mild though the mountains can boast severe winter storms.

The Queen Charlotte Islands are off the beaten track again, but well worth a visit to take in some of the Haida Gwaii First Nations culture. The islands hang on the continental shelf some one hundred kilometers from mainland BC, and are touched by more earthquakes than anywhere else in Canada.

Make sure to see our Vancouver Island Pictures as well as our story on Whale watching in BC, British Columbia.
