Photo: Wharariki Beach South Island NZ

A rugged and diverse stretch of coastline, Wharariki Beach is situated at the north-western tip of the South Island of New Zealand.

The sandy path stretching out toward the Tasman Sea is just the tip of the iceberg as far as sand is concerned. Wharariki Beach is known for its massive sand dunes, larges caves, towering cliffs, and rolling waves. A track leads from the car park across farm land to Wharariki Beach and continues to Farewell Spit the northern most tip of the South Island of New Zealand.
