The Kingston Flyer is a vintage steam train and an iconic feature in the Southern Lakes District of NZ.
Once gold was discovered in the Wakatipu region, the need for a connection to the Dunedin and Invercargill shipping ports became apparent. The railway line reached Kingston in 1878. The Kingston Flyer operated between Gore and Kingston from the late 1800's until it's final run in 1957. Luckily the vintage steam train was restored it its former glory and now operates as an attraction between Kingston and Fairlight.
