Named so for its likeness to the Dolomite Range in the Alps of Italy, Dolomite Peak, shown in this picture as the sunlit peaks contrast against the fresh snow, is a beautiful mountain which is popular with climbers.
These mountain peaks are easily spotted while driving the Icefields Parkway in the Canadian Rocky Mountains of Alberta as they are close to the road. As the sun sets in the rockies, the sunlit peaks glow a beautiful golden yellow colour.
Sunset on Dolomite Peak (2782 metres/9127 feet) seen from along the Icefields Parkway, Banff National Park, Canadian Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Canada. Banff National Park forms part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I photographed this photo with the digital SLR camera model Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, aperture of f/14.0, exposure time of 1/4 sec. on ISO 100, as always I used a original Canon Lens, the focus lenght for this picture was 170mm.
