The Woodland Culture Museum, formerly known as the Mohawk Institute Woodland Culture Indian Museum in Brantford, Ontario, has a separate gallery area which shows visitors the history and culture of the Iroquoian and Algonkian people. This exhibit shows how they would cook what they hunted over an open fire after they have skinned the fur for warmth and necessary items of clothing.
The First Nations people manage this museum where there are endless displays of artifacts, some being archeological specimens, ethnological materials, documents, furniture, paintings, sculptures, crafts and temporary exhibits showing the style of life these people endured. The Woodland Culture Museum was formerly a school for Indian children but that closed down and the doors of the museum opened in October of 1972.
