Board a helicopter at Whakatane, Rotorua or Tauranga for the tour of a lifetime takes you to the active volcano known as White Island off the North Island of New Zealand. Here you will touch down and explore the natural wonders of the steaming crater and landscape of the active volcano of White Island.
After flying above and seeing an aerial of White Island, you will land and have approximately an hour or so to partake in a guided tour. You are provided with hard hats and gas masks for safety reasons and they must be worn at all times.
To be able to journey to the crater, you should have on hiking boots and have no problem walking for thirty minutes on uneven terrain. From the time you are greeted at the helicopter pad and dropped off again, the total tour is approximately two and a half hours long.
Each helicopter pilot is very knowledgeable of the area of White Island and the precautions required before landing is acceptable.
