Northern Vancouver Island is home to the first whale watching company to operate in British Columbia from the boardwalk community of Telegraph Cove. Since its establishment in 1980, whale watching in BC has become a draw card for many visitors to Vancouver Island and more specifically Northern Vancouver Island since it is one of the best locations for killer whale watching.
Northern resident Orca Whales gather in the area in their matriarchal family groups, between June and October each year. During these months they forage for salmon along the coast, as well as socialize with other pods.
