Western Brook Pond Cliffs Gros Morne NP Newfoundland

Hemmed in by sheer cliffs of the Long Mountain Range, Western Brook Pond is the largest lake in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland, Canada.

Plunging to a depth of 165 metres, Western Brook Pond is cradled by the same ancient cliffs that were carved out by glaciers around a billion years ago. Above the water the cliffs tower to a giddying height of 600 metres with only the hardiest of plants holding on to the rocky cliff faces.

During an informative boat tour of Western Brook Pond, visitors get a close up look at the effects of glaciation on the cliffs and an insight into the cycle of the earth's life in Gros Morne National Park, through interpretive narration.
