Plunging to a depth of 165 metres, Western Brook Pond is cradled by the same ancient cliffs that were carved out by glaciers around a billion years ago. Above the water the cliffs tower to a giddying height of 600 metres with only the hardiest of plants holding on to the rocky cliff faces.
During an informative boat tour of Western Brook Pond, visitors get a close up look at the effects of glaciation on the cliffs and an insight into the cycle of the earth's life in Gros Morne National Park, through interpretive narration.
