The bright red cable car on another trip from the Wellington Botanic Gardens on the North Island of New Zealand. The cable car travels from downtown Lambton Quay through the city to the top of the Botanic Garden with three intermediate stops along the way.

The Wellington Cable Car was once used as a source of transport to get to the farmlands of Kelburn. Today the cable car has track that extends 628 meters and travels about 610 meters per trip on about 90 excursions per day. There is enough room to carry about 100 passengers each way as the cable car moves along at about 18 kilometers per hour.

The scenery you pass once aboard the Wellington Cable Car is stunning and there is a museum at the Botanic Gardens on the history of the transport line.
