This particular water lily is one of about 70 different types which blooms with stunning yellow flowers in a lake in Ontario, Canada. The water lily is a name which relates to a family of aquatic plants that grow around the borders of many lakes and ponds.

The water lily is divided into three different groups with this type being a hardy lily that can handle any temperature conditions. The long stalks of the flowers rise above the rotund leaves and it is the perfect place for frogs to find shelter from the sun.

Sunlight is highly required for a water lily to flourish and produce beautiful flowers as the sun is how they receive food and energy. The water lily can reproduce by budding as the roots detach themselves and then grow into new plants.

The water lily can reproduce at a rapid pace but they are now considered to be diminishing due to the disappearance of the wetlands. There are many groups that are trying to conserve our wetlands and hopefully that will be enough so that we can enjoy the flowers of the water lily in Ontario, Canada in future years.
