Above the Bridal Veil Falls there is hot water that flows from a pool over a cliff that consists of silica and creates the fascinating waterfall of Bridal Veil which is made up rock. The pool is known as Champagne Pool in the Waiotapu Thermal Reserve and is 60 meters in diameter and 60 meters deep.
Several different types of minerals are contained in the water which makes its way down Bridal Veil Falls. A hydrothermal eruption was the onset of Champagne Pool and Bridal Veil Falls that happened approximately 900 years ago.
