Information about the "Volcanic Wildflowers Mt Ruapehu New Zealand" photograph:

While hiking over the volcanic soil on Mt Ruapehu in Tongariro National Park on the North Island of New Zealand, you see a landscape that is true to the volcano beliefs. Most people would not believe that beautiful wildflowers such as these can flourish in the volcanic soil and beautify the landscape.

A variety of wildflowers flourish across Mt. Ruapehu in New Zealand but these particular ones are small white flowers that grow in a mass cluster. Each of the flowers petals are white in color with the centre of each flower being a yellow greenish hue.

Mt Ruapehu has erupted approximately fifty times since 1861 with most of them being steam explosions with the last one happening in 1975. In 1945, there was a fairly large eruption which showered the landscape with red hot rocks and ash. Most of the wildflowers were covered in volcanic ash but as you can see they have recovered once again.

Nature works in many ways, as when volcanic explosions occur, the landscape is usually wiped clean of any wildflowers or plant life. It takes many years for the vegetation to break through the new landscape, but once they do, Spring is beautiful around Mt. Ruapehu on the North Island of New Zealand.

When touring around Mt Ruapehu, be sure to stop and examine each of the wildflowers as tourists are amazed at the stunning colors they produce. Be sure to have your camera ready especially when all the wildflowers are in full bloom.
