This unique bridge that towers over the gardens of the Turia and the subway in the City of Valencia, Spain is known as the Puente de la Exposicion or the Exhibition Bridge. The contemporary design is very modern and was created to keep up with the pace of the twentieth century. The Exhibition Bridge was built in 1995 and spans for twenty-six meters in width and 131 meters in length.
Santiago Calatrava was a Valencian architect who designed this twentieth century bridge in the City of Valencia, Spain. He is an internationally known architect who has won many awards for his designs and who continues his work from his office in Zurich, Switzerland.
Calatrava first dedicated his life to bridges and train stations but has since done the architecture of many modernized buildings. Instead of being designed for the twentieth century like this bridge, plans for buildings are now made to coincide with the twenty-first century.
