Trained Aquarium Bottlenose Dolphins Valencia Spain: Scientific Name:
Tursiops truncatus
Four of the twenty trained Bottlenose Dolphins at the L'Oceanografic in Valencia, Spain are ready to perform for visitors to the aquarium. Once the trained dolphins perform a trick, they are rewarded with a fish treat which they have become fully accustomed to while residing in the aquarium pool.
Bottlenose Dolphins are extremely intelligent and learning new tricks is something which they catch on to fairly quickly. Sometimes the harder tricks take a little more practice than the simpler ones and the reward for the Bottlenose Dolphins increases when they have perfected it.
The four trained dolphins waiting for their fish in this picture, all have their heads out of the water while keeping their balance with their pectoral fins...
... and tail flukes.
