The Minas Basin is a popular tourist destination situated along the Fundy Shore Ecotour and Glooscap Trail. Visitors can get a great view from beside the Walton Lighthouse where a set of binoculars are located. The Minas Basin is split into four sections; this one is Cobequid Bay. Some of the most important rivers in Nova Scotia all drain into the Minas Basin.
This area is actually an inlet in the Bay of Fundy and several communities border this basin area. People come here to see the Basin as, among other things, it...
... contains a lot of different species of wildlife. Seals and Porpoises live here, as well as Bass, Flounder, Crabs, Mussels, Clams, and many different species of birds such as Sandpipers, Eagles, and Falcons. This is an area also rich in minerals and even some fossils have been found here.
Someone does not have to be a nature lover to come here and appreciate the Basin however, as it is just an excellent example of an important area for all kinds of nature and wildlife. There is even a fence around the Basin so that people can only see it from afar as this is an important area and it needs to be preserved.
