share to Facebook The Seville Cathedral and the La Giralda Tower, both lit up here at dusk, are recognizable tourist attractions in the city of Sevilla. The tower especially dominates the skyline of the city. La Giralda Tower, is one of only three remaining Almohad minarets (tall spires that are attached to Islamic mosques) in the world. The others are in Marrakesh and Morocco. The tower, which was first built in 1184 and took twelve years to complete, became the bell tower for the Seville Cathedral, of which construction began in 1401.

... after the tower was adapted to serve as the bell tower for the cathedral, four more levels were added at the top for the belfry. At the very top of the tower is an Italian bronze statue of 'Faith'.
The cathedral was built on the site of the ancient Islamic mosque and is still one of the largest Medieval and Gothic cathedrals in the world.

This view is taken from the Banos Arabes, or Arab Baths, which is also a tourist attraction where visitors come to be pampered with massages and beauty treatments in the ancient Arab style. The baths sit on the site of some original Arab Baths. As you can see, the balcony affords a spectacular view of the city.
