Stock photo showing some Thermal Energy in New Zealand. The Waiotapu Thermal Area near Rotorua features the Champagne Pool. Its a Hydrothermal crater which exploded 900 years ago in a rush of thermal energy, and is a 2000 square metre pool of bubbling, steaming water which is at a temperate of around 70 to 75 degrees celcius or 158-167 degrees fahrenheit. The brilliant orange is a mixture of minerals that collect around the edge but creates an image of extreme thermal energy. It was named Champagne Pool because of the tiny bubbles which rise to the surface from the depths of the pool crater.
