The year 1987 had residents being dug out and in 1995 an inspection of the slopes was done. The outcome was confirmed that rockfalls and avalanches are inevitable and safety fences were put up to avoid any other serious mishaps in The Battery in St. Johns, Newfoundland.
There have been no other reported incidents in The Battery since and many tourists walk along the harbour near Signal Hill to explore the historic village in St. Johns, Newfoundland.
