One of the gas field platforms is situated approximately twenty-one miles west of the North Island of New Zealand off the coastline of Taranaki with the other one being about ten miles further offshore.
One of the Maui Platforms produces gas and condensate while the other one extracts gas, condensate and oil. For about another eight years this process will continue until eventually the reserve will almost be used up.
