A great ball of fire glows across the horizon and brightens the surface of the water as the waves break against the shoreline of the beach at sunset on Gillespies Beach. A section of the beach is unbelievably bright from the sunset and the other coastal shoreline starts to fade away into the darkness.
Gillespies Beach on the South Island of New Zealand is made up of small rocks and as sunset closes in, the rocks sparkle in the brilliant light. This is a very tranquil place where you can sit and watch a beautiful sunset with a loved one amongst the twinkling pebbles and crashing waves.
At low tide along Gillespies Beach on the South Island, there are plenty of pebbles for those who like to collect unique rocks, build rock castles or skip pebbles through the waves. High tide delivers some intriguing pieces of driftwood with some being left laying on the beach when the tide recedes again.
A long walk along this beach is amazing and will bring you to a seal colony at Gillespies Point. It is best to check the tides and make sure there are no storms brewing as it can get fairly wild along this coastline on a stormy day and driving to the seal colony can sometimes be the better choice. On a beautiful day, there is nothing better than strolling Gillespies Beach especially at sunset.
