Once known as the "mauka" route, State Highway 190 runs through the barren desert land of Death Valley, California in the USA. The Funeral Mountains which are part of the scenery on the drive along Highway 190 are extremely dry and appear as large sand dunes from a distance.
This section of the limestone hills that extend into Death Valley National Park are anywhere from 2,200 to 4,950 feet high. Not many people are seen traveling into the hot arid hills of Funeral Mountains in California but bighorn sheep are sometimes seen.
