The original building of the Staatsoper in Vienna, Austria was designed by two great architects and was opened in 1869 but was constantly criticized by the people of Vienna up until the opening. During World War II the stage was destroyed and the remains of the building were gutted by a fire in 1945 which include thousands of props and costumes.
The Staatsoper was rebuilt and had enough seating for over 2,200 people and reopened in 1955. The Staatsoper building closely resembles Italian Renaissance as this period of time was extremely important for art and music.
