Sointula

A community founded in 1901 by a group of Finns, Sointula which is situated on Malcolm Island in British Columbia, means the place of harmony in the native Finnish language.

The lights of Sointula glisten as the Northern lights glow above the small village on Malcolm Island. Sointula which means "place of harmony" is situated on the southern coast of Malcolm Island and is surrounded by the Queen Charlotte Strait and Broughton Strait, sandwiched between Northern Vancouver Island and the British Columbia Mainland. This view is looking across the Broughton Strait from the beach in Port McNeill on Northern Vancouver Island.
