Signal Hill was a place where the main reception of the first transatlantic wireless signals could be transmitted and a main harbour to watch for any ships heading in to do battle with St. John's, Newfoundland. It was a very strategically placed site and it soon became the location of harbour defences that went on from about the 18th century and continued until the Second World War.

The men are clad in their bright red, white and black uniforms which are relevant to the years around 1795. The soldiers play their fifes and drums and demonstrate many drills and formations that were done in that time period.
The Signal Hill Tattoo in St. Johns, Newfoundland performs for tourists from the middle of July until the middle of August. As long as the weather cooperates, you can see this fine display of military activities on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
