Information about the "Seal Cove Newfoundland" photograph:

The harbour of the town of Seal Cove on the western side of the Baie Verte Peninsula in Newfoundland, Canada is a community of fine qualities and true beauty. Along the harbour of Seal Cove you will find fishing boats, docks for mooring and spread out over the bottom of the green hills you will find houses and buildings.

Seal Cove was named due to the fact that so many seals were found in and around the waters of this town. They seemed to like to enter the harbour and hang about but be able to leave on the southern side where it opens up to the majestic Atlantic Ocean.

The population of Seal Cove started out with a total number of twenty people in 1871 and grew to have about eighty residents by 1904 because of the fishing industry, gardening and exceptional location for raising animals. By the 1960's the numbers increased to about 1000 because of the abestos mines that were opened but those numbers have now dropped to about 750 due to the downsizing of the mines at Baie Verte, Newfoundland.

Seal Cove in Newfoundland, Canada has it all because of its outstanding location, the stunning scenery and the incredible sunsets that can be seen from this town. The people of the community are very friendly and will help visitors with anything that they may require while visiting Seal Cove.
