The Hammerwand mountain is just one of the many in the Schlern Sciliar mountain area in the Naturpark Schlern, South Tyrol in Italy. The Hammerwand or Croda diMaglio in Italian, is not one of the highest peaks at 2128 meters. Along with the Tschafatsch at 2235 meters, and Mittagskopf at 2178 meters, these three mountains are the lower ridge of the Schlern plateau in the South Tyrol region of Italy.
The grassy valleys and tall evergreens at the base of the mountain are a stunning contrast to the rugged rock formation reflecting the rays of the sun during a sunset. Although Hammerwand near Voels in the Naturpark Schlern, Italy is a magnificent sight the sunset gives the mountain a mysterious quality.
The villages of Voels and...
... Sels are approximately 1000 meters below the mountains, and yet they are still 800 meters above the Elsack valley. The Naturpark Schlern in the South Tyrol of Italy, was designated in 1974, and of course, camping, picking flowers or other vegetation is prohibited.
There are many hostels, inns and farmhouses for adventurous visitors to stay. There is hiking and mountain climbing to enjoy on Hammerwand and in the Naturpark Schlern in the South Tyrol of Italy in Europe.
