Saint Leonard's Church or Leonardskirche, is the oldest church in downtown Frankfurt, Germany and today is dwarfed by the tall modern buildings surrounding it. Saint Leonard's was begun in 1219 as a simple Romanesque basilica with dainty towers and apses.
By the time the church was completed in the 15th century, a Gothic influence was added as well as lovely stained glass windows. The little towers and windows have survived the years and wars, and today, this historic Catholic Church is still open to the public where Mass is held in English on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
