share to Facebook A field of colour caught our eye from a distance - brilliant purple contrasting against the green of the trees. As we drew closer the field of purple was mixed with pink and white.

This colourful mat was a field full of Russell Lupins with their spikes waving gently in the afternoon breeze. These wild flowers are produced in abundance along river, lake, and road sides throughout the South Island of New Zealand.
