At the Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre in Wairarapa on the North Island of NZ you can view some of the most endangered species of NZ wildlife. Amongst the dense bush that hangs over the river, you will be able to spot a variety of wildlife that lives here.

The centre was first established in 1958 when a couple found four abandoned takahe chicks and cared for them after they were close to extinction. The NZ wildlife service took over from the couple in 1962 and has flourished since saving many species from extinction. Now the dark colored water of the river meanders its way beneath the overhanging bush where an assortment of wildlife lives on a daily basis.
The Pukaka Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre in NZ is open daily for visitors and after venturing amongst the unique bush of the native forestland you can visit the other attractions here. There is a visitor centre, education programs and displays of the animals and entire region of trails around the Pukaka Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre.
