The Bar U Ranch was established in 1882 at the foot hills of the Rocky Mountains near Longview Alberta, and is one of a small group of large corporate ranches in Canada. In December 1991 Bar U Ranch was declared a National Historic Site and uses a living history approach to present one of Canada's most vital industries - Ranching. Today the Bar U is one of the oldest ranches, having survived through the depression of the early 1900's and is open to the public for group tours and educational programs.
