The Embalse de Bubal near the village of Bubal in the Valle de Tena in Huesca, Aragon in Spain is a man-made reservoir in the midst of the surrounding mountains of the Spanish Pyrenees. The Tena Valley was carved by the glacial Gallego River and the two main tributaries, Caldares and Aguaslimpias Rivers and it is near where the Gallego and Caldares meet that the Pyrenean Lake Bubal was developed.
The Embalse de Bubal (Embalse is Spanish for reservoir)is about 3 kilometers southwest of Panitcosa village where there is a small ski resort complete with chalets, gondola and chair-lifts. The local buses regularly travel through the Valle de Tena in Aragon, Spain, and will stop at Lake Bubal and Panticosa as well as all the other villages...
... along the way.
During the summer, water-skiing is popular on the Bubal reservoir in the Tena Valley, and on the rivers rafting and kayaking are true daredevil sports. For the less adventurous folk, the villagers of Valle de Tena enjoy their fiestas with singing, dancing and making music. The young lads of the villages go to each house singing folk songs ('jotas') and receive gifts.
