... ever since. The white cross on the flag comes from the banners of ancient France that were raised going in to battle and made the French standard easy to distinguish. The Fleur-de-lys symbols are the most striking part of the flag and are some much talked about symbols. They did not come from the ancient flags of France like the cross, but they did come from the purity and symbolism of the Virgin Mary as they are white, and the Fleur-de-lys on the ancient French royal flags were golden in colour.

There has been much debate in Quebec in the past years about how they wish to separate from the rest of Canada and become their own country. Many that live in Quebec are for this idea but the rest of Canada seems widely against it.
