The Powder Tower in Prague in the Czech Republic stands at approximately 65 meters and is the entrance way to the Royal route which goes over Charles Bridge to the hilltop castle. The appearance of the tower was renovated in 1475 during the time that King Vladislav II ruled but it came to a halt between 1477 and 1485 due to riots which sent the King running from Prague.
The original name was the Mountain Tower but during the 17th century it was a place where gunpowder was kept hidden to protect the entrance to the Old Town, so the name was changed to the Powder Tower. During the year of 1757, the Powder Tower in Prague was damaged beyond repair and reconstruction took place between 1875 and 1886.
