The Pont Jacques-Cartier, aka the Jacques Cartier Bridge crosses over the Saint Lawrence River in Montreal and is a way of getting to La Ronde amusement park, which is a very popular fun park in the city. As dusk sets on the city you can see the lights begin to twinkle on the bridge and in the amusement park, and these attractions can be clearly seen all night long until the sun rises on another day.
Pont Jacques-Cartier Bridge goes from Montreal Island to Longueuil and crosses over the Isle of Saint Helen in the centre of...
... the Saint Lawrence River. It was not always called the Jacques Cartier Bridge however, but the Montreal Harbour Bridge, but as Jacques Cartier was the western explorer to first sail up the Saint Lawrence River, he was given the distinction of having this bridge named after him in 1934, on the 400th anniversary of the voyage.
The La Ronde amusement park is the largest in all of Quebec, and the second largest in Canada. It is owned by the company Six Flags, which are incredibly popular in the United States, but surprisingly La Ronde is the only Six Flags operation in the country. La Ronde has a lease on the site until 2065 so no doubt the Jacques Cartier Bridge will be bringing visitors to the park for many years to come.
