Polar Bear Ringed Seals Meal Frozen Lake Manitoba: Scientific Name:
Ursus maritimus
A Polar Bear is very content while eating his ringed seal on a frozen lake which he captured in the Hudson Bay in Churchill, Manitoba but he keeps a close eye on any type of intruders which may venture near his meal. The Polar Bear will eat many ringed seals as meals throughout the winter months in order to fatten himself up for the months ahead.
Ringed seals are plentiful around the Hudson Bay which is the main reason the Polar Bears are very patient until the pack ice begins to form along the shores. The chances of one of these ringed seals being able to survive once a Polar Bear finds it is slim to none and a meal is in place for the Polar Bear. After the Polar Bear has killed the ringed seal, he will rip the food up with its teeth and eat the skin, fat and internal organs, the meat is left behind.
