This is just one of my pictures of Milford Sound, located in Fiordland National Park are taken from the shoreline looking across the reflective bay to Mitre Peak . Mitre Peak is situated in Milford Sound and rises to a height of 1.695 meters. The name "Mitre" is derived from its similarity to a bishop's mitre when viewed from the south side. Fiordland National Park where these pictures of Milford Sound were taken, has been recognized for its outstanding natural value by UNESCO by the formation of the Southwest New Zealand World Heritage Area which covers 2.6 million hectares. It is also known as Te Wahipounamu by the Ngai Tahu Maori tribe. Make sure you check out our
