A woman is enjoying the scenery and the moments after sunset as she takes a stroll along South Beach in the Pacific Rim National Park. As the sun has set behind the mountains all that is left is a pink haze in the sky, giving a dreamlike quality to this beautiful beach. It is part of the Long Beach Unit of Pacific Rim National Park which is located in the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
South Beach is accessible by two different hiking trails, one being longer than the other, but it is well worth a visit as the view and the untouched wilderness is truly a sight to behold. This beach is a popular tourist destination for nature lovers. It can also be a great place in the winter to watch the storms passing over Vancouver Island and some people battle the elements to watch from the beach .
This area, being part of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is preserved for education and sustainable development, so it cannot be developed or changed. People who come here must respect the ecosystem and the wildlife and leave the beach how they found it so others can also enjoy its natural beauty.
