This picture gives you an example of how peaceful the town of Westport, Washington is as the sun begins to rise to begin another beautiful day. Westport, Washington is situated at the mouth of Grays Harbor on a peninsula known as Point Chehalis.In the early days before any white settlers arrived in Westport which was around 1857, the Native American people made use of Westport as a summer vacation spot. It was not until around 1914 that the town and marina in Westport started to become a livelier place where fishing and tourism became part of the everyday activities.Today, you will find Westport, Washington to be a more active community with fishing and tourism still being the main source of income along with boat building. The list of things to do and see in the town is endless which is why many people come to Westport for a summer vacation.Your best bet is the miles of sandy beach along the waterfront and a scenic boardwalk around the docks which is the ideal place for a picture or two. Fishing charters leave the harbor regularly where you can try your skills at bottomfishing, tuna, halibut and salmon or do some clam digging along the shores.In town you will find antique and gift stores if you are searching for special items as well as lots of fun things like miniature golf, go kart tracks and museums for family fun.
