The single tree in this plowed paddock stands out against the backdrop of the mountain peaks of the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales Sierra del Alijibe as seen from the Ruta de los Almoravides in Cadiz, a province of Andalusia in Spain.
The route of the Almoravides is actually a historical route that you can drive along in Spain and it takes you past famous historical points in the region; it allows you access to explore a large area.
This route was formed in Moorish times and the Spanish conquest. It refers to the name of one of the movements that forged the Spanish empire in the 11th and 13th centuries. The route starts in Tarifa in Cadiz and then goes through Malaga all the way to Granada. Many tourists use this route as it really is a piece of history which takes you right across the country.
With the beautiful mountains in the background from the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales, this tree looks like it stands all alone in the Spanish countryside, but really it is a part of a much larger picture of the gorgeous Spanish hills and mountains.
