A mother Polar Bear watches very closely over her cub on the icy tundra in Churchill, Manitoba as we capture this family photo. Polar bears are massive, curious and very aggressive and can be very dangerous to humans especially when they are caring for a young family member.

When on a tundra buggy tour in Churchill, Manitoba, people are not allowed to leave the vehicle as you never known where a Polar Bear may be lurking. Due to their snow white coats of fur, they blend in beautifully with the icy tundra and can be hard to see. Any family pictures that are taken must be taken aboard the tours as wild animals are what the Churchill Wildlife Management Area is all about and keeping the wildlife and humans safe is everybody's main concern.

As winter nears in Churchill, Manitoba, the mother Polar Bear will watch over her cub and train him to catch his own meal and teach him some survival techniques. This Polar Bear cub is approximately eleven months old and will feed from its mother until around two or three years of age and then it must fend for itself in the wild.
