A symbol that reflects the identity of Canadians is found in the iconic red and white flag. It is a symbol of honour and pride for all Canadians and represents all of its citizens regardless of race, culture and beliefs.
The official colours of Canada were pre-defined in 1921 by King George V and play a major role in Canada's identity the world over. The maple leaf - another symbolic emblem is representative of Canada, and has been since the 1700's. These two elements - the maple leaf, and colours of red and white were combined to create the current National Flag of Canada as we know it today.
