The Mesquita (cathedral-mosque) is situated near the banks of the Rio Guadalquivir in the city of Cordoba in the region of Andalusia, southern Spain.
The design of the interior of the Mesquita represents a mix of extensions made over several centuries during the moorish rule to cater for the expanding population of the city. There are also major influences from when several christian churches were integrated here after the moors where driven out.
