During a recent visit to the ice floes on the Gulf of St Lawrence I encountered these funny resident animals, harp seals near Newfoundland.
The female harp seals on the pack ice on the Gulf of St Lawrence are extremely funny animals. In this picture you can just make out the white furry flippers of the harp seal pup behind this protective female. The closer I got to her pup the more often she would pop her head up through the hole in the ice. She looked really cute with frozen whiskers and large eyes!
