The ferry service which operates between North Sydney in Nova Scotia and Port aux Basques in Newfoundland provides transportation year round. The transportation between North Sydney and Port aux Basques takes from 5-7 hours.

The alternative transportation by ferry between the mainland and Newfoundland is from North Sydney to Argentia, a journey lasting approx 14 hours. However, this service only operates from June until September each year.
