A sleeping cat finds peace on the window sill inside the Memorial Church at the Grand Pre National Historic Site in the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, Canada. The domestic cat makes the ideal family pet as most are fairly self sufficient only requiring food, a comfy sleeping place and some love and attention.
Cats save up their energy by sleeping, needing more as they age, with the average domestic cat sleeping between 13 to 14 hours per day. During the early morning hours or late evenings, cats seem to want to run and play as their activity level increases. Domestic cats usually live to be about 14 to 20 years of age, but for households who leave their cat inside on a regular basis, the chances of any accidents, fights or diseases becomes minimal, possibly increasing their life span.
