Marmots are typically a large squirrel that are found in mountainous areas such as the Dolomites in the European Alps in Italy. These Alpine Marmots tend to live at heights of approximately 800 to 3200 meters in the Dolomite mountains where they make themselves burrows for living in. Marmots hibernate through the winter so your best chance of spotting a marmot when biking or sightseeing through the Dolomite mountains would be in the spring or summer seasons.
