It was not until 1960, that a Norwegian explorer and his wife, an archaeologist, found remnants of a Norse village and in 1978, the town of L'Anse aux Meadows was named as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.Town of L'Anse aux Meadows at sunset, Northern Peninsula, Great Northern Peninsula, Viking Trail, Trails to the Vikings, Newfoundland, Newfoundland Labrador, Canada.
