The historic chuck wagon was, and in some places still is, used by a cook during cattle drives.
One of the main events during the famous annual Calgary Stampede is the Chuck Wagon Races. Although the chuck wagon was the main responsibility of the cook during a cattle drive, the chuck wagon was also used as a hospital unit during the American civil war.
