Perfume equipment used for distilling has been used for centuries and the basic idea has not changed but, as in many things will have been streamlined. At the Parfumerie Fragonard in Grasse, Provence visitors can see the old and the new methods.
The original Parfumerie Fragonard is one of the oldest factories in Grasse, Provence. Established in 1926 in 'downtown' Grasse, it still uses the old ways of developing perfume, and has a museum featuring a collection of old and unusual perfume bottles and equipment like those shown in this picture.
The more modern Parfumerie Fragonard factory is just outside of Grasse on the Route de Cannes. Named 'La Fabrique des Fleurs', this building has a lovely garden of scented flowers surrounding it. Grasse in Provence is known as the perfume capital of France and with Parfumeries such as Fragonard there is no doubt the title will stay for years to come.
